Free Association is a connected and supportive space for artists, makers and educators from a diversity of fields and artforms who want to actively contribute to publically available, open access and commons based models of learning, living and working together. A cultural and learning commons is founded on the idea that the arts and culture are not a preserve of the wealthy, they belong to and are produced by us all.
We run events and workshops for different levels of experience and in some cases, all ages. Keep up to date here by joining our mailing list or via Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date.
Who is it for?
It is open to anyone interested in the arts. It may be of particular interest to you:
- If you would like to try something new and meet new people
- If you are working and/or studying independently but are looking to do so in conversation with others and within a wider group of people
- If you would like to contribute to making a sustainable, social, critical and common space for arts practice and inquiry
- If you are looking to spend focused time on your work but your circumstances don't allow for formal study
- If you are returning to making work after time spent doing other things

Who are we?
We are currently comprised of a loose group of artists and educators who saw the need for a flexible and open ended time and space for art practice and collective inquiry. Each month both regular and new people come along to our meetings and events. 'We' are generally whoever takes part in our activities on the night. It is primarily organised at present by Sacha Carr and Beth Dynowski.
